Omega 3 is an essential fatty acid for human health.  Something that is essential means that your body must have it for good health and that you must put it there since our bodies do not produce it on their own.  We can supplement Omega 3 or find them naturally in foods such as chia seed and certain fish, nuts, and plants.  Omega 3 fatty acids are also know as polyunsaturated fatty acids.  Omega 3 play an important role in heart health, healthy brain function, as well as normal growth and development.

Even though Omega 3 is important there are people who should limit their consumption of certain fish.  Women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are nursing and young children should limit their consumption of swordfish, mackerel, shark, herring, salmon and tuna, due to possible mercury contamination.  This is why finding foods high in Omega 3 in the plant world makes so much sense.  Chia seed is very high in Omega 3, is a whole raw food, and is grown in the ground so the whole mercury contamination issue is a mute point.  Even fish oils can be tainted with mercury if the fish that it was extracted from was contaminated.  Why take the chance?

There are three major types of Omega 3 fatty acids that are ingested in foods: 1) alpha-linolenic acid, (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid, (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid, (DHA).  Once consumed the body converts ALA to EPA and DHA the two more commonly used by the body.  Extensive research shows that omega 3 fatty acids reduce inflammation and reduce risks of certain types of cancer and heart disease and arthritis.  Omega 3 fatty acids are highly concentrated in the brain and are important for healthy brain function, memory and behavior.  Studies have also shown that children whose mothers diets were deficient in omega 3 fatty acids during their pregnancy had lower IQs than the children whose mothers diets were high in omega 3 fatty acids.  In fact, infants who do not get enough omega 3 fatty acids from their mothers during pregnancy are at risk for developing vision and nerve problems.  Some common symptoms of omega 3 deficiency are poor memory, dry skin, fatigue, poor circulation, heart problems, mood swings,  and moderate to severe depression.

Like many other things with regard to the human body, balance is critical.  The proper balance between omega 3 and omega 6 is vital.  These fatty acids work together to promote good health.  Omega 3 helps reduce inflammation whereas most omega 6 promotes inflammation.  A healthy diet should consist of 2 to 4 times omega6 than omega 3.  A typical American diet contains 15 to 25 times more omega 6 than omega 3 and researchers believe this is a significant factor in the rising rate of inflammatory disorders.

The Mediterranean diet however, typically has a better ratio and contains omega 9 fatty acids, which have been shown to help lower the risk of cancer and certain types of heart disease.  Their diet contains less red meat, high in Omega 6, and more fruits, vegetables, and grains, high in omega 3.

Clinical studies have shown that omega 3 have been helpful in treating a variety health conditions.  The findings are strongest for heart disease, but include other serious medical conditions such as:

Depression

High Cholesterol

High Blood Pressure

Heart Disease

Weight Loss

Diabetes

Arthritis

Bipolar Disorder

Osteoporosis

Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder

What is it?

Arteriosclerosis refers to the thickening of the walls of arteries.  It has become very prevalent in modern times and is responsible for much of the disability and death caused by heart disease.  This disease is found primarily in the elderly due to the nature of the disease itself.  Arteriosclerosis is usually preceded by atherosclerosis, which is when fatty deposits form a deposit of plaque on the inner lining of arterial walls.  The worst place for this build up to occur would be around the arteries of the brain or the coronary vessels of the heart.  If a piece of this plaque breaks off and travels to the heart it can cause a heart attack and if it breaks off in the brain it can cause a stroke.  I say “can” but it is almost a definite “will.”  There are other potentially fatal complications of these problems as well.   Arteriosclerosis causes a loss of elasticity of the blood vessels and a narrowing of the smaller arteries resulting in a decreased circulation of the blood and higher blood pressure.

Symptoms

The symptoms of arteriosclerosis vary depending upon where the problem develops and which arteries are involved.  Usually inadequate blood supply will appear first in the legs with numbness, coldness, pain and even cramping.  If the coronary arteries are involved the patient may experience “angina” pain in the chest.  When arteries of the brain are involved  the vessels may burs cause a brain hemorrhage.  A stroke, with partial or complete paralysis on one side of the body, could result if there is a blockage with a blood clot.  This can cause brain damage and dementia.

What is the cause?

  • Heredity is a factor.  This disease runs in families.
  • Lack of physical exercise
  • High fat diet
  • Excessive intake of refined foods and sugars
  • High cholesterol
  • Diabetes can cause hardening of the arteries
  • Obesity ”      ”          ”           ”             ”            ”
  • Stress    ”      ”          ”           ”             ”            ”

Natural Remedies

  • Onion and Garlic as part of a daily diet have been shown to be a preventative
  • Honey
  • Lemon peel or zest provides vitamin P which strengthens the entire arterial system
  • Parsley is good for capillaries and arteries
  • Beet, Carrot, and Spinach juice helps breakdown calcium deposits

I have always been amazed at a woman’s ability to notice even the slightest of weight gain.  I swear that they can break it down to ounces!  Maybe it is because they always buy their cloths on the small side, so they can tell when things start feeling a little tight here or there.  Maybe it’s because they are more concerned with their appearance than we men are.  This is an area where we could definitely use some improvement, at least I could.

Women are much more bothered by extra pounds of weight then men.  We men are much less likely to view ourselves as over weight at all.  We have amazing powers of self delusion.  We look at extra weight as moving up to the next weight class in the UFC (Ultimate Fighter Challenge) or maybe  as a sign of prosperity.  Whatever the excuse, it just doesn’t bother us that much.

Women tend to link weight loss with self improvement and as a goal to be achieved.  Men are more concerned with the medical reasons behind weight loss, such as the fear of DEATH by heart attack or stroke.  I have even noticed a difference in terminology between men and women when speaking about weight loss.  Women call a “spade a spade” and use the actual words, “weight loss”, “lose weight”, “dieting”, etc..  Men talk about “getting into shape” or “getting fit.”

Women take weight loss very seriously and more personally than men and tend to berate themselves if they fail in their goal.  Men hardly ever take failing to lose weight  ”personally” and are much easier on themselves.

Many women will over eat in times of great emotional stress, depression, anger, or boredom.  Men may as well, but do not perceive themselves as “emotional eaters” and will also overindulge in response to positive emotions, such as celebrating a victory or a big sale at work.

Women are much more open to unsolicited feedback from many different sources as long as they are supportive either physically or emotionally.  Men don’t like unsolicited advice and we tend to get angry if it is forced upon us, with two exceptions, our mother or wife/girlfriend.

It really is quite funny when you sit back and think about it.  Men and women both know in their hearts that being overweight it unhealthy and we should take healthy steps to control our weight, but at the same time we each play by a set of rules that we’re bound by, one of which I have just broken by writing this little article.

Anyway, keep in mind that “life is a journey not a destination.”  Don’t be so hard on yourselves you women out there, you are ALL beautiful!  Men, we need to get a little harder on ourselves and stop supporting the various forms of media out there that “objectify”  the “fairer species”.   Be Well, God Bless You and “Eat Like You Give A Damn”  Alex

Ovarian cyst disease is a chronic condition that can really take a toll on the physical, mental and emotional well being of a woman. Conventional medicine cannot help a woman deal with the disease, as the manifold complications associated with this condition are not addressed by hackneyed forms of treatment. Hence, today there is a growing trend to revert back to naturally deal with this disorder in all its aspects.

Importance of natural cure: Natural cure for ovarian cysts involves the use of natural remedies for treatment. It is one of the oldest forms of treatment. Natural remedies are still used exclusively in many parts of the world where people nurse a grudge against conventional medication. There are also many reasons why natural treatment is considered to be a better alternative for conventional medication.

  • Side effects of conventional medication: Conventional medical treatment can be hard as the treatment options including surgery give rise to many side effects. Women who have to lose their ovaries often experience change in their personality due to hormonal imbalance. Also, oral contraceptives, which are used prominently to treat the condition, can affect fertility of a woman. Pregnant women cannot use conventional medication, without having to endure significant risks of miscarriage and premature delivery. As compared to this, natural remedies have no side effects. Some forms of natural treatment also put emphasis on strengthening the mental and emotional state of the patient thereby promoting healing in true sense of the term.
  • Inefficiency of conventional medication: Conventional medicine provides only temporary relief from the symptoms of ovarian cysts. The ovarian cysts reoccur after the treatment is discarded. Even after surgery, the patient is not immune to ovarian cysts. In fact research has shown that the growth of ovarian cysts after surgery is a side effect of this harsh treatment option. As compared to conventional medication, natural treatment provides long-term relief from the condition since it tackles the root cause of ovarian cysts and is therefore more effective.
  •  Impersonal approach: Conventional medication works according to rule of thumb without paying much attention to individual differences. Hence, conventional medication fails to treat certain conditions, as it lays emphasis on the disease and not the patient. On the other hand, natural treatment is a personalized treatment option. Each and every course of treatment varies from one person to another. This is the reason why it has such an astounding success rate.

  • Expensive conventional treatment: Conventional treatment for ovarian cysts is very expensive. Besides expensive surgery, you will have to pay for hospitalization, tests, prescription drugs and more. Natural remedies are comparatively cost effective and therefore women on a shoestring budget can also take advantage of them.
  •  Hence, Natural treatment is effective against less serious forms of cysts. It can be used to prevent complications and to keep the existing ovarian cyst disease under control. However, these remedies cannot completely cure ovarian cysts. To cure ovarian cysts, a comprehensive holistic and multidimensional form of treatment is required.

    The Holistic approach:

The holistic approach is a multidimensional approach to treatment. Hence, a holistic approach practitioner does not concentrate on superficial symptoms during treatment, but tries to locate the actual root cause of the disease. Also, Holistic approach is not limited to just one form of treatment. The holistic approach investigates the propriety of different methods and treats the body as a unified whole. Moreover, the holistic approach is also mindful of individual differences and never ventures to lay down rules when treating any individual. Therefore, a woman can get the best form of treatment that can promote healing at physical, mental and emotional level.

This article is based on the book, “Ovarian Cysts No More” by Mary Parker. Mary is an author, researcher, nutritionist and health consultant who dedicated her life to creating the ultimate holistic ovarian cyst solution guaranteed to permanently cure all types of ovarian cysts and dramatically improve the overall quality of your life, naturally, without the use prescription medication or surgery, and without any side effects.
